Marlin .356

What a fantastic rifle, recoil is heavy but really good fun, hope to get to Europe this year to take some boar with it.

The case is accentually a .308 necked up to take a .357 bullet. I have reloaded the cases with pistol bullets for plinking. I was able to push out a 158 grain JHP bullet at over 2500 fps that was accurate enough to consistently drop a head and shoulders profile at 400 yards at the military range. I use a 200 grain round nose Hornady bullet as my large hunter, can not see too much running away after being hit with one of those.

50 metres rested.

I am to understand that this is a very rare rifle as less than 2500 were made, shame Marlin still do not make to this quality today.
